It had its old-house trouble — its plumbing was about a century old and the kitchen needed work— but unless you turned on a faucet, you could never tell. Troy, the insides painted in bright yellow, orange, and blue, was full of life, hard work, and relationship. At Troy Street, my family and friends spent Sundays in front of a TV projector, rang in the new year over clinked glass, and awaited election results. We learned how to cook a turkey, played ruthlessly over Sorry!, and shared stories around a backyard fire. At Troy, we worked hard too. In those four walls, we crafted business plans, pulled all nighters to finish the design of a project, and wrote lesson plans, large contracts, and grants. My husband’s first book was written and edited there, and my PhD started there too.
The energy found in that first home is the same energy found in Troy Street Professional Services today. By entrusting your work to Troy Street, you can of course expect top-tier work, meticulous iterations, dedicated thought partnership, and polished products, but you can also expect the warmth and compassion engrained in that Troy Street house and intrinsic to me. At Troy Street, hard work and excellence cannot be separated from compassion and trust, warmth and friendship. You’re welcome here, you’re wanted here, and we’re going to do a lot of amazing work while you stay.
At Troy Street, there’s just no other way to live.
-Colleen
Colleen Pawlicki, PhD is the owner of Troy Street. As an editor, qualitative researcher, and author, she is focused on providing high quality professional services that are accessible to all.
Before opening Troy Street, Dr. Pawlicki was a career educator, serving first at Chicago Public Schools and then in the Office of Special Education at the Indiana Department of Education. She also designed and led an urban teacher preparation program at Indiana University for undergraduate education majors interested in teaching in Chicago. Colleen holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in English Education and a PhD from Indiana University in Education Policy.
In addition to her contributions to education, Colleen is an accomplished writer and researcher. She is an award-winning poet and a published scholar in the field of educational leadership. Dr. Pawlicki has also co-authored and won federal and private grants for non-profit agencies and universities. When not running Troy Street, Colleen actively pursues her own scholarship, specializing in qualitative methods and critical discourse analysis.
Dr. Pawlicki started Troy Street with one belief in mind: We are all one good editor away from telling our best story. To Colleen, Troy Street is as much of a mission as it is a business, striving to be the life-long thought partner, editor, and critical friend her clients need to breathe life and motion into their work. To the scholars, authors, and businesses she works with, she shares:
“I am right here with you, and we will succeed together.”
Colleen calls Fountain Square, Indianapolis home with her husband Dakota and dog Otis.
Colleen has become a key member of my professional and academic team. She started out editing a paper for graduate school, and now she is my go to editor for anything I need. Colleen's combined talents of editing, coaching, management, and research support has helped me write academic papers, a book, business proposals, federal grants, and public-facing reports. Her work is always the highest quality, and she gives me the confidence to communicate my ideas and plans clearly, professionally, and strategically.
It's been a great pleasure to have worked with Colleen for the last four years. Colleen edited my manuscripts to be submitted to academic journals as well as professional materials, such as my resume and cover letters. I can't thank Colleen enough for her prompt and careful and thorough language help. It's obvious that Colleen does a very diligent job of reading my manuscripts carefully to offer helpful comments and suggestions. My papers always look polished, and I always feel much more confident sending my work after Colleen's edits. After I implement edits, Colleen also always offers to look over a paper/manuscript one more time for free. Overall, I've always had wonderful experience getting my work edited by Colleen, and I'll certainly trust this service with my dissertation!
Dr. Pawlicki has provided such high quality editing support across two large-scale reports (100+ pages) during the last year. She is thorough, on-time, and her technical editing skills are strong. She flags errors and presents questions that always make the document stronger. She is a true information architect!
Dr. Pawlicki is beyond fantastic when it comes to editing services! It was an absolute pleasure to work with her on my dissertation editing. She was thorough, professional, and completed it on a tight deadline! Her extraordinary editing abilities truly elevated my work to the next level! I would highly recommend her services for any project!
I cannot recommend Troy Street Services enough! As a Ph.D. student, the process of publishing can feel daunting and overwhelming. However, with the nurturing support offered through Troy Street Services, I was able to publish my first ever article in a peer reviewed academic journal! They went above and beyond in offering insightful and informative feedback on my work that I have applied to other writing projects. Working with them feels inviting and seamless, and I will continue to work with them on my other writing projects!
Colleen is someone who takes your project as it's hers. She is basically the hidden figure who assists you throughout all your manuscripts and whatever writing project(s) you have. She took the materials seriously and did the editing way so sincerely. This is not very common to find where the editor takes your project for granted and works with you as the co-author. The suggestions she gave you and the feedback she provided would leave you stunned and with joy. Because from that moment, you knew your writing project was in the right hands. I highly recommend Colleen, and I cannot express my gratitude well enough. Thank you, Colleen, for the whole work you have done. You are the water of a writer's seed(s) who suffers from a dry garden. Your water is what makes these plants live, shine, and become beautiful!
